yesterday's saturday section of the newspaper had loads of interesting articles.if you havent read it then i suggest you should because its very informative.like did you know that flooding of the yangtze river in china in 1931 caused 4 miliion people to die?many cool facts to know.there were also articles on whether doomsday (aka the day the world ends) is nearing, the previous natural disasters that have occured in the world.and loads more.there was one particualr article that caught my attention however and made me feel kind of scared.
we all thought that singapore was safe from tsunamis because it is protected by other countries right?well we thought wrong.a meteorologist predicts that the epicentre of future earthquakes will shift northwards, north of the andaman and nicobar islands, where the Dec 26 quake struck.he predicts that "a big quake with a more northerly epicentre than the Dec 26 quake will generate a tsunami which will have a more direct route down to the Strait of Melacca, swamping Singapore and Malaysia.as the sea passage narrows, more water will build up and the wave will become bigger.singapore is relatively low-lying and quite flat and would be badly affected" that is really scary.what are we going to do if such a thing happens?if the wave is going to be bigger than the Dec 26 one, than singapore is roast meat.we will be submerged completely.i mean, who are we kidding?singapore is a small country.so for those of you who think we are perfectly safe from tsunamis, you are totally wrong.singapore will be in deep waters (excuse the pun) if the huge quake ever occurs.we can run,but we cant hide.where we going to run to?malaysia?RIGHT.all we can do right now ,like what mr yong says,is just say our prayers and hope we die first before that happens.
