Now I'm not so busy,I can upload the pictures from Parveen's wedding. It was a week ago,on the 1st of January,a perfect way to start the new year, let me tell you.Everyone was there, family, cousins, aunts, uncles. My cousins from England, whom I haven't seen in ages, actually I've only seen Trafford and not his sisters Sapphire and Sahara, but anyway, they flew all the way from England for the wedding. And in our usual traditional way,our family made the wedding truly fun and one to remember.
The wedding was spread out over 2 days, not counting the engagement which was on Christmas eve,2005.The mehndi night, where the bride has her henna done ,was on Hari Raya Haji Eve.We put I-don't-know-what-it's-called-stuff on leaves on the bride and groom's palms and had water sprinkled on us while they took turns sitting on the pelamin.I have not the faintest idea why we do it but it's tradition. Then we did the same thing while they sat on a stool on the floor and this time we gave them money. After that,we started bhangra-ing until Azim accidentally turned the music off and we stopped cause the mood had been killed.

The actual wedding was on New Year's Day,which also happened to be Faheem's birthday. It started off with the nikah ceremony which was so beautiful.Parveen's legally married! Then we all went back to our rooms to get ready for the night. We were all assigned jobs.Yasmeen,Jern and I were the receptionists, getting people to sign the guest book.Shazee and Freda were the berkat people, handing out the berkat to people when they left. But we were all helping each other out so it was all good.

Receptionists and berkat-ists.
We were all pretty surprised when we saw Mathilda D'Silva.I'd spotted her from afar and when she was signing the guest book,I mouthed "Mathilda!" to Freda who was behind her.Freda tapped her and we all started telling her what a great singer she is,how she should have won and then we asked her to take a picture with us.She was so friendly!I admit that I initially thought she was overconfident and arrogant when I saw her on TV.But she really isn't.She's so nice. She and Parveen had gone to the same university.Small world huh?
Mummy and Mathilda.Oooh look at the cake.
The most fun part of the evening was of course when the bride and groom re-entered the ballroom after their first outfit change.Since the wedding was held at Orchid Country Club, they were going to ride in on a buggy.Like at Faisal's wedding,we had to dance as we enter. So all us cousins gathered round in front of the buggy, outside the ballroom. There were at least 20 of us,extended cousins and all.We were all so excited.Shazee and I started squealing and jumping. We were making so much of noise and we hadn't even started dancing yet! Then we were given our cue and once everyone was ready, all of us started dancing into the ballroom while the buggy came slowly behind us.That was truly amazing. It was so fun!Too bad we don't have pictures because everybody was dancing. The night went well after that.We started taking pictures with our phones and exchanging numbers. And after it all,we took a group photo and said our goodbyes, which took really long.Everytime we said goodbye,we'd start talking about something else. And then we'd say goodbye again and we'd suddenly remember something. And so the whole goodbye process took so long. But I think the real reason was, nobody wanted to leave.Who would blame us?It was one hell of a wedding. There's no wedding like a wedding of our family's.So someone get married quick then we can do it all over again!
The whole family.
Daddy stuffing the laddoo into Parveen's mouth.
Look at my freaking big mouth. That Faheem kept coming into the picture everytime we wanted to take one and then we'd start laughing and we never got a good one.
Us girlies.We rock.
